International Exposure

After pioneering Community Led Total Sanitation in Pakistan; the organization got an edge at international level. At the start many delegates from abroad visited the ODF (Open Defecation Free) villages of Mardan which were declared as ODF after the successful triggering of CLTS approach in these villages with support of UNICEF. Keeping in the view the success rate of CLTS in Mardan; WSP-SA visited IRSP and financed 4 persons for CLTS training in Himachal Pradesh India. Thereafter many of IRSP employees visited abroad for exposure and trainings while many delegates from across the world visited IRSP field area for experienece sharing and monitoring.

  • 3 staff memebers of IRSP got training on CLTS from Mr. Kamal Kar in Himachal Pradesh India
  • 4 staff members of IRSP visited Rajshahi district of Bangladesh where CLTS was first launched by VERC. The contextual experience of CLTS was shared during the exposure visit.
  • Delegation from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Peru, Australia and Nepal visited the Open Defecation Free Villages declared by IRSP and TMA (Tehsil Municipal Authority) after the successful triggering of CLTS PRA in these villages
  • UNICEF Regional Chief (Nepal) visited IRSP ODF villages in Mardan and appreciated
  • IRSP provide 5 days training to Tear Fund Afghanistan. Two Master Trainers from IRSP visited Afghanistan and provide 5 days training to field workers on CLTS.
  • IRSP participated and contributed in SACOSAN conferences in Pakistan and India
  • The local Govt. representatives and barefoot consultants of IRSP projects were send to India and Bangladesh for experience sharing with support of WSP-SA and UNICEF
  • IRSP participated in World Water Forum held in Turkey in 2009.
  •  Advocacy Source Book and Budget Tracking Workshop Dhaka, Bangladesh (August 2009)
    IRSP participated in this workshop which was held on the subject of budget tracking advocacy
  • Follow Up of SACOSON-III Meeting Negombo Sri Lanka (September 2009)100_0533.JPG
    A follow up meeting of the SACOSON-III was held in Sri Lanka which was participated by IRSP and shared its experiences and contributions.
  • Capacity Building of DACCAR & Tear Fund on CLTS, Kapisa Afghanistan (2009)
    IRSP built the capacity of Tear Fund Afghanistan. During the 5 days workshop the capacity built on CLTS approach.
  • Gender Water and Equity Training Pune, India (November 2009)
    Third “Gender, Water and Equity Workshop” was held at Pune which was participated by IRSP and shared its experiences of WASH sector. GWET
