IRSP is a multi-sector development organization (www.irsp.org.pk) which is going to implement 2 years project in collaboration with Local Government Department Sindh titled as Saaf Suthro Sindh Program (SSSP).
We are looking for the following positions in district Shikarpur and Kamber Shuhdad Kot;
- Environmental Specialist

Location: One position for Shikarpur and One for Kamber Shuhdad Kot
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide day-to-day guidance and advice on environment safeguard compliance issues for the IRSP and resolution of environment safeguard compliance issues in planning documents, in consultation with the IRSP management and SSSP.
- Lead in identifying and resolving environmental issues, particularly compliance risks for complex/sensitive projects and categorizing community level projects.
- Lead in advising IRSP and SSSP on the improvement of environment policies and practices in project implementation.
- Ensure environmental assessment of WASH facilities in schools and communities
- Prepare the Environment and Social Management Plan (ESMP) for each WASH facility
- Make assessment of water supply and sewerage infrastructure and prioritize and recommend the requirements in villages for providing/rehabilitating small scale water supply and sewerage infrastructure schemes.
- Follow all the guidelines and provisions stated in Operations Manual, Specification and Environment and Social Management Framework (ESMF) and the World Bank’s relevant policies for coverage and performance and will apply guidelines and standards as recommended
- In supervising their role they would ensure adherence to Environmental, Health, Safety and Social Code of Conduct
- Lead and monitor environment safeguard policy compliance of projects during implementation and review implementation issues, undertaking activities such as conduction review missions, etc.
Required Education & Experience:
- The potential candidate must have master degree in environmental sciences or Bachelor Degree environmental engineering or equivalent
- At least 5 years’ experience on similar role especially in water & sanitation projects
- Excellent written & communication skills in English
- Excellent IT Skills
- A candidate from Sindh and targeted districts with same qualification and experience will be preferred.

Job Responsibilities:
- TO oversee all aspects of BCC element and delivery in line with objectives, budgets, timelines and standards of the project.
- Undertake background research for evidence based BCC programming
- Design and develop BCC plans, materials and products with appropriate branding and compliance with respective institutional regulations and guidelines.
- Conduct BCC Training for staff and Ambassadors of Change and oversight to replication of trainings at district levels as well as regular technical guidance and support for smooth implementation of the project.
- Ensure that monitoring system tools, checklists, indicators, reporting formats are in place to track immediate results/outputs and impact/outcomes against planned initiatives.
- Ensure BCC plan for Open Defecation Free Villages Sustainability
- Undertake field visits to oversee implementation and provide on-site feedback for required improvements, and generate field visit reports with timely and appropriate follow up on action points.
- Conduct periodic project reviews and prepare project reports for management and outside as and when required.
- Lead the advocacy and influencing component of the project using field evidence as well as coordination and representation of IRSP at different forums and platforms.
Required Education and Experience:
- Masters degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences or Public Health.
- Five year experience of managing a BCC intervention in NGO including minimum 3 years “hands on” direct implementation at grassroots level.
- Excellent project management skills
- Experience of delivering community based BCC projects related to water supply, sanitation and hygiene.
- Sensitive to culture, gender issues, equity and accessibility issues.
- Good understanding of WASH sector, SLTS and CLTS, rights-based community development, engagement with public duty bearers, social mobilization and empowering approaches of long-term development programming
- Excellent written & communication skills in English
- Excellent IT Skills
