Inception workshop, regarding introduction of newly established Post Flood Wash Rehabilitation Project in district Swat was conducted in Swat continental Hotel Mingora on 20th Jan, 2011. After recitation from the Holy Quran, the participants were got welcome by Mr Azeem Shah, Chaiman IRSP. Mr Muhammad Idrees, PSM IRSP, highlighted the main objectives of the workshop and different aspects of Govt sector’s role in PFWRP. Mr Sajjad Ali, SPM IRSP presented the WASH related activities on multimedia and briefly described the IRSP Strengths in the sector. Mr. Ishtiaq Sadiq from Concern World Wide described the main theme of the project.

The participation from different Government departments was 100 % ensured in this workshop. All the Government sector officials showed great interest in the workshop and they expressed their views individually regarding Wash facilities in Swat district. Both the TMOs of Tehsil Matta and Saidu Sharif highlighted the poor sanitation in urban areas i.e. stagnant water in Markets, lack of streets pavements in proper city of swat, due to bad drainage and sewerage system. He insisted that Donors should take their personal interest in the matter and should try to launch a separate wash project for proper city of Swat. The urban localities of the area are more populated as compared to rural localities therefore; much emphasis is required for improving drainage and sewerage system of the internal city. This proposed intervention will support other interventions for preventing bacterial diseases,  XEN PHED told in his brief speech that he is fully satisfied with the project titled PFWRP Swat. He further said that PHED will extend its utmost support to the PFWRP Staff  in order to obtain best result for sustainable development in district swat, however he emphasized on close coordination among all stakeholders.

DDO Female also showed great interest in the discussion and said all the activities of PFWRP need to be conducted with mutual understanding as well as effective coordination with local Government. All the Government officials were ready to own the program and committed their full possible support to the project staff.
